Taking Kids Back To The BASICS

ASWIFTT Publishing released “Life Lessons Kids Should Learn Quickly” by Brenda Diann Johnson.  Brenda gives practical advice, information and tools that kids, teens and young adults should embrace to navigate successfully through life. In her book she points out that a child’s initial training ground to shape behavior starts at home. She emphasizes that parents are responsible for teaching their children manners, etiquette, social skills, rules and principles to interact with people. Brenda also recognizes that all kids don’t get the same basic teachings because of various circumstances that exist in the home. However, no matter what misfortune kids face, Brenda still teaches that respect of others, appropriate behavior in formal and informal settings and basic rules and principles are essential.

Brenda Diann Johnson is a mother, grandmother, author, publisher, educator, entrepreneur, radio host, speaker and above all a humble servant of God. She enjoys writing and spending time with her daughters, Diamond and Kamille and her grandson, Bryson.

Ms. Johnson’s life mission is to use the creative talents God gave her in writing, teaching and speaking to not only have self-fulfillment but to also have an impact on the audience God has predestined for her. Get Your Dreams and Goals Moving!

“What are you waiting on?” Again, I say “What are you waiting on?” The earth realm is waiting for you to release the talents and abilities God gave you. At the moment of your conception, God gave you talents and abilities to one day share with the human race.

Faith without works is dead according to the Bible in James chapter 2 verse 20. In James chapter 2 verse 17 it states: Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. In these examples, it is clear your faith and works are necessary to make things happen.

In Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1, the Bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In the Random House College Dictionary, faith is the confidence or trust in a person or thing or the occurrence of a future event. Your motivation to get moving is your faith or belief that your dreams and goals can and will happen.

Selfishness Stops the Flow of Blessings

Did you know that selfishness stops the flow of blessing to you and others? Selfishness according to The Random House College Dictionary means devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned only with one’s own interests. Imagine if we lived in a world where everyone practiced selfishness. Imagine if no one cared for another human being and people only looked out for themselves. The Planet Earth would truly be a cold place to live.

Unselfishness allows God to work through people. God is able to answer someone’s prayer because of the obedience of another. When you are selfish it stops the flow of blessings to you and others. It stops the blessing to others because God is unable to meet someone’s need through you. Your selfishness also keeps you from sowing a seed into someone’s life which prevents you from a blessing.

Sowing and reaping is a natural and spiritual law. Farmers use the sowing and reaping principle when they sow seed into the ground and reap a harvest. If the farmer does not plant seed, he cannot expect to get a harvest. It is just that simple. The sowing and reaping principle works the same way in the spiritual.

According to the Bible in Galatians 6:7, it says “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Natural and spiritual laws automatically come to pass whether we want them to or not. When sowing either in the natural or spiritual, make sure what you sow will produce a harvest you want to reap.

A Truthful Evaluation of Yourself Gives Feedback for Growth and Success

Did you know you were fearfully and wonderfully made by God? (Psalm 139:14) You were created in His image. (Genesis 1:26) You are more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37) You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13) Knowing these truths gives you an absolute standard for your life. They are encouragement to your soul.

When you know the truth about God and your existence, confusion is not an option. Be firm, truthful and sure about who you are and what you stand for. Don’t let the opinions and prejudices of others tell your story. You are unique, valuable and have a lot to offer. When you know the truth about yourself no one can easily offend or discourage you.

A truthful evaluation of yourself is when you can admit your strengths and weaknesses. No one has to tell you where you are lacking. You know where you need to improve and where you excel. When you continue to truthfully evaluate yourself, you continue to grow and mature. When you mature in your weak areas, you begin to succeed where you previously failed.

Did You Know That God Gives Us Direction When We Pray?

God will give us answers to questions if we ask.

The Holy Spirit guides and leads us if we are walking after the spirit and not the flesh. God’s direction is in the Holy Bible. He gives direction to us through other people and through circumstances whether good or bad.

It is important to pray without ceasing. (1Thessalonians 5:17) We should pray to God when we are unsure about which direction to go or what step to take. We should also pray according to His word and expect an answer. We have this promise according to 1 John 5:14-16, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

Therefore, we must question ourselves whether we really want God’s will manifested in our lives. We cannot pray for anything that we know is contrary to HIS WILL because He will have a deaf ear to it. There are times when we may not know if we are praying contrary to the will of God for our lives. God has also made a provision for us even in our ignorance. According to Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD.”

Walk In TRUTH Everyday!

Did you know that you are responsible for walking in truth? You must walk in truth everyday before God, in your home, in your church, on your job and in your community.

We should walk in truth daily and not just on Sunday. During the week it is important that we walk in truth on our jobs. We should remember we work with Christians and non-Christians. It is important for our co-workers and our bosses to see Christ in us. We show Christ in our attitudes, our work habits, what we say and what we do. We should stand out as an example to others. Ephesians 6:5-9 explains how employees should work as unto the Lord and be obedient to their employers. It also explains how employers should treat their employees and not threaten them.

Our community is also important as we continue to walk in truth. We need to be mindful when we are out in public. Our actions and what we say should be in line with God’s word. We should deal honestly in every business transaction. Whether we are doing business at the grocery store, bank, or department store we need to have integrity. We must make a difference in our communities at the voting poll, in community organizations, and with the kids in our community. It is our responsibility to care about what happens in our communities and stand up for what is right. We should also love one another. If we do this we are showing the world and our communities that we belong to Christ. (John 13:35)

Did You Know That Forgiveness And Justice Work Together?

God forgives us and He also administers justice.

God has promised us forgiveness if we confess our sins to Him according to 1 John 1:9. He loves us unconditionally and wants the best for us. He showed this AGAPE love when He sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. God wanted a sacrifice that would justify the penalty for sin. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Even though God forgives us, we must recognize that He is also a God of justice. Justice according to the Random House College Dictionary is the administering of deserved punishment or reward. Because God is just, He will administer punishment or reward to anyone when necessary. He also has the absolute authority to administer this justice how He deems necessary. God knows what degree of punishment and reward each of us need. We can count on God to punish us when we sin and go astray. He will also reward or recompense us when we suffer a wrong done to us. Therefore, forgiveness and justice go hand in hand.

Did You Know There Are 4 Areas Where Satan Tricks Mankind?

Satan’s schemes come when we are weak, vulnerable and sick.  He deceives us when we are inexperienced, naïve and young.  He tricks us when we are in need, lack and want.  He plots our demise when we are faced with life changing decisions.

Believers at one time or another have been weak and vulnerable because of an incident that has taken place in their lives. The incident may have been the loss of a loved one, divorce, an accident, or illness. These things can leave us prey to Satan. Our adversary, the devil, walks around as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8)

When we are weak, we can’t make the right decisions and we can easily be manipulated. When we are vulnerable to the enemy we need to stay in constant prayer and ask God to hide us and keep us safe from the enemy. (Psalms 61:1-4) We should also ask other prayer warriors to pray for us. This is important because sometimes we are too weak to pray for ourselves.

Satan is also able to trick us when we are inexperienced in some areas of life. He also comes when we are young and naive. Satan knows what we do not have knowledge of and will entice us in areas where we are ignorant. Satan has been around longer than we have and knows every way to trick man.

When we are young, naive and inexperienced it is easy for Satan to trick us. We have not lived long enough to know Satan’s devices. It is good news to know that God has been around even longer than Satan. God knows Satan’s schemes, tricks and devices. Therefore, a young person who lacks wisdom should ask God who gives to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. (James 1:5) God has control over everything that concerns heaven and earth. His son Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith and Satan’s fate. (Hebrews 12:2; Revelation 20:10)

Seasoned Believers Come And Restore

Seasoned Believers restore fallen believers and remind them of God’s love. They also explain the importance of repentance to receive forgiveness. The Seasoned Believer is concerned about getting the fallen believer back into the fold. It is the responsibility of the spiritually mature to restore those who have fallen according to Galatians 6:1. It reads “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Seasoned Believers are wise and know that anyone can be tempted and overtaken in a fault. Seasoned Believers know that the Christian Journey is a battle and one must follow the straight and narrow road. Matthew 7:13 admonishes us to “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:”
