It’s Me Lord, Standing In The Need Of Prayer!

Praying Hands 1ASaints everywhere are trusting, believing, seeking and praying to God to answer their prayers. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19, KJV)  Some tests, trials or tribulations are meant to be witnessed before others to help strengthen their faith, while others are private between you and God. Let God direct you on which ones are public and private. In either case both are testimonies of what God has done personally in your life. Every testimony has a time and place where it needs to be shared to encourage, comfort and strengthen the faith of others. (Johnson Padgitt, 2012)

Many know me as an encourager among many gifts that God has given me before I was born. You can always find me giving others a word from God, scriptures to meditate on, and testimonies to validate the goodness of God. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, ESV)

Even though I often encourage others, I too have to be encouraged, prayed for, and given scriptures to meditate on. No one is exempt from the troubles of this life. Jesus warned us about the troubles of this world. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, KJV)

This week I had to trust, believe, ask for prayer, meditate on scriptures and petition God to get through surgery. I thank God that He has blessed me with family, friends, business partners, and praying saints who believe God and take God at His word. They know the power of prayer and have their own testimonies of faith & deliverance. I have people in my life who love and care about me. They are saints who I can be transparent with and they will sincerely pray for me.

When I first learned that I was going to have surgery I immediately prayed about it to God. As believers we are supposed to rejoice always, pray without ceasing and in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NASB)

I prayed the night before the surgery and again when I woke up at 4 a.m. God reminded me of two scriptures. I looked them up because I wanted to hide them in my heart before I went in for surgery. The first scipture reads “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV)

The second scripture reads “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:5, KJV)

These two scriptures were important to me because the morning of the surgery, FEAR did try to creep in. Fear can easily grip us when we are dealing with our tests, trials and tribulations in the flesh. We are humans and it happens to all of us. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16, ESV)

We must walk in the spirit and not in the flesh so we can see things much clearer and as God wants us to see them. Remember there is a purpose for your pain, trial, test or tribulation. Sometimes we can immediately see God’s plan and other times we won’t know until He later reveals it to us.

Even Jesus for a brief moment did not want to go through the tribulation of dying on the Cross. In that moment when he prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, he did not want to face his inevitable suffering and death. “And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:39, ESV)

I personally thank God for hearing my prayers, the prayers of my family, my business partners, World Harvest Global Church, and Way of Grace Bible Church concerning my surgical procedure on June 30, 2015.

I know that God heard our prayers because everything went smoothly. And this is the confidence that we have in Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us. And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him. (1 John 5:14-15, KJV)

I was content and unmoved throughout the process. I had to trust that God was in control of everything, especially the surgeon’s hands. When I know that I have no control in my situation I pray to God even more. I pray for those who God is using in my situation.

My prayers were answered. Everything went quickly. I don’t remember anything about the actual surgery. All I remember is saying good-bye to my aunt while I was rolled away to the surgery room. The next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery room. I was still a little drowsy. The nurse gave me some ice. I asked the nurse, “Did they do the surgery already? He said “Yes. It has already been done.” I said “Really?” I always have these moments when I am in such awe at what God has just done. It never gets old to me. I am like a little child waiting to see what He does next because it is always marvelous in my eyes.
